A Little Advise On Family And Jobs?

By CNAGuide

I’ve been at a job for 6 months that I absolutely hate!!! The only good thing about it is that I get to work dayshift. I make crappy money, I get shorted on my checks constantly, and I don’t have any benifits like vacation time, holiday pay, insurance, sick leave. I found another job where I would get all those benefits, and I would make 1.05 more an hour than I do now. The only downfall is that it’s second shift (2pm-10pm). My husband doesn’t want me to take it because of the hours. The good side to the second shift schedule is that I could take CNA classes in the mornings and then after I complete those, I could get a day shift job again. I’ve tried talking to him about it but it goes in one ear and out the other. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It does stink that moms are always the ones that have to sacrifice in the work field…..
My suggestion is that hubby will have to suck it up and help you out. What will he do if you just take the job anyway? He is the parent too.
I know that it is easier said than done. Hope it all works out for you.
I finally got sick of trying to work around every ones life and started my own biz. and became a Passion Partie Consultant. That way, I get to work when I want. I make more money doing 1 party a week at 3 hours per party then I was at my day job as an accountant!
Something to think about……If you are not happy with your job, it is hard to be happy at home… Again, good luck!

Well either way its probably not going to be a job that you are going to be at for the rest of your life. I say if you are not happy, move on. Also, the whole no benefits thing… i think thats kinda bogus…. especially for a full time position. 2-10 is kinda sucky but not really terrrible! You get to sleep in later, still weekends off and benefits plus more pay!!!! Sometimes it takes that small sacrafice to get where you really want to get!!!!

Balancing husband and career sucks…tell him if he lets you work the second shift (how long do you have to work it?)…you can obtain your CNA license and make more money get a day shift position, help with the familiy income AND be back home and with him each and every night! Good Luck!

Really it doesn’t matter what he thinks.. it does but it doesn’t. Its your life that you want to improve. Take the new job, take the classes and that will make you both happy in the long run. Its all about the future not the moment

Tell your husband you either work second shift or he can find a second job while you stay home because you need to get out of the bad situation with your current job. remind him it would only be temporary if you work second shift and permanent for him if you don’t.
