Are You Still Able To Have A Medical Profession After Having Your Previous License Revoked?
My friend has had her medical CNA license revoked recently. I’m wondering if even though she had her license taken away for being a CNA, is she still able to go to school again for another medical profession such as a nursing assistant? Or does have her CNA license revoked means that she will not be able to have any more jobs or professions in the medical field?

I’m not exactly sure what the duties of a CNA are (we only have Health Care Aides/Special Care Aides in Canada, and they have 10-12 months of comprehensive training), but I also have to question the circumstances regardless. Kristin kind of made a good point.
Did she commit a crime? Abuse a patient? Perform duties out of her scope of practice (i.e. Administer meds)? Perform duties improperly (i.e. drop a patient)? Come to work under the influence? Lie on a medical chart about care given? Ignore a superior? Ignore a patient? Come to work with an uncontrolled medical condition that compromises her job performance? Tell off a patient’s family member? Not know what to do in a situation? Is she an illegal immigrant? As you can see, there are many reasons why one may be in this circumstance.
All of the above are serious, but some may be “fixed” with more training, accommodation, or education.
Your friend needs to find out exactly WHY she is in this position, and what she can do about it. Talking to her former employer and licensing body is a first step.
Generally speaking, anything such as this or having a criminal record will prevent her from entering the medical field again on any level. Again, it is hard to give you an answer not knowing any details. While it is technically *possible* to somehow outsmart the system (we have all heard of MDs who have lost their license and then attempted to practice again), don’t count on it. Furthermore, these guards are put in place to protect the public. If there is a good reason why your friend has had their license revoked, then it is likely there to protect people. In other words, for a good reason.
Good luck!
If her license was taken away should she really be trying to go into something medical again? Doesn’t sound like it’s her thing if she can’t even be a good CNA.
