Going From Being A Cna To Medical Administrator…?

By CNAGuide

Ok, my major is Medical Administration. I am going to the community college and taking 1 or 2 classes each semester. The major requires 30 classes and I have completed 9. It will be several more years until I complete my degree- although I will be able to get some certificates in the mean time.
I have been working as a CNA for about 18 months. I need to move out of this into clerical work since that would be better experience for my major. I am having the hardest time getting my foot into the door for office work though. Even the temp agencies want experience for medical office work. I would like something along the lines of a Medical Receptionist, Medical Records Tech, Medical Biller, or Scheduler.
Will I probably have to wait until finish my degree? Do you have any advice for me?

It is very hard to get your foot in the door for clerical work if you have no experience. Try taking some computer classes. Also just apply everywhere that is hiring for clerical, even if the pay isn’t the greatest, at least you would be getting you foot in the door. Good luck
