If You Were The Department Head Over A Huge Assisted Living Would You……?
…….make a big deal over the cna’s wearing gloves after residents had gone out of the dining room when you clean the plates, saying it was an issue of disrespect to the residents??? And what do you think of her making a big issue over it??? When she has never worked as cna.

i don’t think I’ve ever been to a restaurant where the bus boys wore gloves to clean off tables. That would present a greater danger than that of an assisted living facility. I’m pretty sure that the kitchen staff uses the three compartment sterilization sink method or dish washer to clean dishes and utensils, like restaurants do.
Wearing gloves is someones’ personal choice and shouldn’t be thrust upon them. I would hope that there would be hand sanitizer available for them to use.
If no one is around, let them do as they like to get the job done more efficiently.
wearing gloves helps to keep from catching anything a resident might have, plus more sterile.
Bloodborne pathogens can be present at all times. If this is an accreditied facility they must wear gloves anytime there is a potential for any type of contact between themselves and the resident.
