Nursing, I Have Some Questions.?
I’m seventeen and in 11th grade, and I go to an allied health tech program for my school. They’re offering a free CNA class for all of us and since it pays pretty good for someone my age I thought i’d take the class and start applying at hospitals and nursing homes. I was wondering what CNA’S do, and if they have to clean up (urine, vomit, feces etc..) Is it better to work as a cna in a hospital? And what unit is best to work in as a cna or does it matter?
I’m not planning on being a cna for the rest of my life, just until I’m done with high school and college. I’m planning on becoming a registered nurse after college. I thought being in a hospital setting and working with nurses will prepare me a little for what i really want to do after college.
THANKS

That is a good start. Depending on the area you work and the hospital/organization you work for will determine what all you can do as a CNA. Yes many times you are expected to clean up vomit, ect. You will be expected to if you are an RN as well. As far as what unit is best, I am not sure because the units depend on where you live and the hospital/agency you work for. If there is an area you are interested in try for that area. As an RN you can specialize in areas such as pediatrics, oncology, ICU, what have you..
Good Luck!
