Rn Or Medical Field Question About Getting Over Bodily Fluid?

By CNAGuide

I am currently a full time student for nursing, and my only concern since I have to work as a CNA for a couple of months, is how to get over being affected by seeing bodily fluid. I know that this will be part of my job, but I want to start, in a sense, getting numb to this now than to be shocked when I start to do clinicals. I can handle blood, guts, etc. It is fecal matter and vomit that I think everyone has a natural human response to. I’m sure when everyone starts in a health care field there are alot of things you see that aren’t normal in day to day life, I just wanted to know if there is a way to mentally prepare yourself ahead of time?

I am in the medical field, and I work with Surgeons and what worked for me was to eat a nice big morning breakfast, before I went to work. When I say big breakfast, I mean like grits or pancakes ,sausages, eggs, toast and a nice big glass of juice(orange,grapefruit,apple,etc.). You also can go to like a Denny’s,IHOP or something like that,if you do not have time to cook a big breakfast. My stomach is so full, that I could not feel nauseated or like I was about to pass out. Also, go to Rotten.com and see how you can handle the pictures on that website.
