Section 8 Housing Assistance!?
Ok so heres my question, I currently do not have a job, I am living at my dads and have a 6 month old son and my boyfriend is here too. My mom owns a condo and the renters are moving out, her and my dad are paying for the first month i live there but the rest I have to pay for, my mom said Caitlin you should go and ask about section 8 housing, because she said I would do that if you can get it you should ask how that works, so question is if my mom does that can I get the assistance, I am not working right now, so do you have to be working or what? also I am taking a cna class and that starts this week and after that I plan on finding a job as a cna which makes about what 10 dollars an hour, so with that income with I qualify for the assistance?

Your mom can’t apply for you.
You have to locate the state department (used to be called Social Services) and apply through them.
My mom was on section 8. It took her 8 years to get a house because they put you on a waitin list! but if you tell them that you dont got a job they will or might put you high in the list which meanin you will get a home faster. My mom is currantly on the list again she had got off it because my father had supported us. I would just apply on the list again its better. Section 8 helps out alot.
Have personally never been on welfare but I am sure if you go down to the welfare office and stand in line with every one else looking for a handout they will help you with your question.
first of all what state are u in? here is how section 8 works in ohio.. you have to apply when they are taking the applications. then they will send you a letter when your name is at the top of the list.. U HAVE TO HAVE SOME MONEY COMING IN! So they can base your rent amount on the income you have in the household. THEN you find a house.. if it is just you and your child,, you are eligiable for a 2 bedroom,, find a house, apt.. townhouse whatever u wish.. U CAN NOT BE A RELATIVE OF THE LANDLORD OR OWNER OF THE HOUSE!!!! Then you sign your lease agreement with the agency and landlord and you have to live in the house for a year.. then after a year you can move where ever you want .. But you have to have some sorta income.. if you boyfriend works.. you can put him on the lease and go by his income depends on what that is.. if he has a good job then section 8 isnt for you.. hope this helped..
