Should I Be A Med Tech Or A Cna?
I am a CNA working in an assisted living facility as a caregiver. I have just moved up to the med tech position which i find interesting and not hard for at all. I like this position because I am learning about medications and many different things. Although the pay from what I was told by fellow caregivers and med tech was never going up from 10 dollars per hour in this company. On the other hand I got an offer in a skilled nursing facility as a cna with the starting of 11.00 – 13.00 dollars per hour and on the shift that my husband really want for me which is graveyard shift. I want to go back to school for nursing (RN) and I’m not sure which will help me more being a med tech or being a cna? Should I keep the job as a med tech or be a cna? I’m confused please help!!!

Neither, you will never make what your worth. Go on and continue to nursing, there’s where the money is.
It seems that you have an interest in Health Care and that you really want to do something that helps people. Ever think about becoming an educator?
Many companies need educated individuals who can educate the public on there products. With your back ground, you would make much more than $13.00 an hour. Also, your education would at a fraction of the time and cost.
You seem very bright. Work smart not hard!
Don’t over analyze either position as an RN you’ll do all kinds of varied jobs. Just start taking classes to qualify for an RN program
Depend on what you want to do.
I began my medical career as an EMT in the Los Angeles Area. I thought about going further and becoming a Paramedic. Then the call to duty arrived and soon found myself side by side to the PA dealing with odd injuries. I’m back in the civilian world now and currently waiting on paper work so I can get back to work. I gained much experience but can not practice what i’ve learned because it falls outside my scope of practice. Medicine is one of those careers that you either love it and hated it. I know myself as a people person and I’ve always tinker with stuff. I like tinkering with folks. If you can handle schooling for your RN Licenses I would suggest that route. The pay is not bad $50.000 +. Me I’m going the route of the PA because of genuine interests and that I know I can go further.
LVN-CNA are the ones I beckon to if I need Miss Crabtrees bottom cleaned.
WELL IT REALY ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT CLASSES ARE OFFERED AT WHAT TIMES. FOR YOUR RN. A CNA IS A HIGHER CLASS AND THE PAY FORM WHAT YOU SAY IS MORE. IVE WORKED GRAVE AS A CNA IT WAS PERTY AWSOME EVERYONE ASLEEP VERY EASY MOST OF THE TIME. BUT I GUESS THAT DEPENDS WERE YOU WORK. IT YOU GO TO CLASS TO BECOME A RN WONT YOU BE LEARNING ABOUT MEDICIN? YA SO YOU NEED TO FIG OUT IF YOU WANT TO LEARN NOW OR LATER. GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT. JUST DONT EVER WAIT TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL CUZ THEN YOU WONT.
