What Job Can A Pre-nursing Student Get At A Hospital While Still In School?
I’m currently in school majoring in Nursing. I’m at a 2 yr school and will graduate with an associates degree in science. I will be applying to a 2 yr nursing program at a university shortly before I finish. I’m looking to get a job at a hospital and would be in school during the day full time. So I’m wondering what jobs can I get at a hospital while only having an associates in science degree and be able to work nights.
I’ve looked up similar questions and see that people are saying to get certified as a CNA but how would I be able to do that if I’m in school full-time? And I don’t want to do volunteer work. I have to get paid to be able to put myself through school.
Thank you!

Forget being a CNA, you just stated you wanted to work in the hospital. I would look for either a Patient Care Tech position (MAKE SURE you put that you are in college for nursing and have almost completed an Associate Degree on the application) or a unit secretary position. Both will pay way more than a CNA will and the PCT will give you more experience than a CNA job will; the unit secretary position might allow you some extra study time if it’s a night shift position (the phones and call lights aren’t usually busy, no visitors, and there aren’t doctors coming and going with new orders to put in the computer).
Your opportunities for paid employment at a hospital are few. And realize that, once you begin the actual nursing program, your schedule will be filled not only with classes but with clinical shifts at hospitals with varying and odd hours.
nothing-obviously you need a degree or be licensed or certified in some area to work in a hospital
