What Medical Job Is The Most Hands On?

By CNAGuide

I need to do medical experience for my future physician assistant job. What medical job is the most hands on? Emt, nurse, paramedic, Cna, medical assitant, etc.
I planned on getting my emt certificate and doing that but maybe something else if it is more hands on.

It depends on what you mean by hands on. we’ll see if I break down each one a bit for you, as they all have some positives and negetives.
EMT – Basic – Most often referred to as an EMT. This person provides basic medical care on an ambulance during an emergency call and usually drives the ambulance during 911 response.
Positives – School is about 3 months. so it is rather quick to get going and see if EMS is really something you’d like to do without investing a lot of time and money in school.
Negatives – Low pay, usually between $8.00 – $10.00 an hour (varies a lot depending on what part of the country you live in). crappy hours (most services run 24 hour shifts) Most people get bored rather quick and move onto being a paramedic or another career field.
EMT – Paramedic – Usually referred to as a Paramedic. This person provides advanced medical care during an emergency ambulance response. Is the senior person on the ambulance and makes the decisions on a patients care.
Positives – You are the provider in the field, all decisions on patient care are yours. but with that comes the responsibilities as well :) School is from 1-2 years based on what state you live in and what that state requires. No 2 days are ever the same so it keeps it interesting :)
Negatives – High burnout rate, school cost anywhere from $3,000 – $5,000. Pay avg is anywhere from $10.00 – $25.00 depending again on where you live and the service you work for. You are open to being sued like a physician should you make a mistake.
Hopefully someone with experience in the other jobs can tell you more about them as I’ve never been a nurse, CNA, or a Medical Asst. and have no real desire to do any of them :)
