Whistle Blowing?

By CNAGuide

It has been a year since I quit my employer and the corporate compliance office keeps asking for my input as to why I left with no notice and just quit. This company has been sued by a lesbian employee who was written up and fired she won her case changing the way the hospital treats others. I believe I was unfairly accused of poor work performance becaue I am a CNA & had to task for a lazy nurse. I want to say something about the bad conduct of the employees I worked with for 7 years and it is a major hospital many have no choice but to go there. However, I fear that the write up that convinced me to quit will overshadow what I want corporate to know. I should have but didn’t keep dates and details but I remember incidents and names which they will be able to verify. I was employee of the month just that week, and recieved money and compliments the week I was written up and ended up quitting. I want to expose the company b/c I am still a patient there and so are my family members

Could you go half way on this one? You could craft a statement carefully for the corporate compliance office that states your case without rancor, but explicitly does not mention any names or dates. You could tell them that you appreciated some aspects of the time you spent there, especially being written up as employee of the month, but someone obviously bore you a personal grudge and tried to ruin your record, so you quit.

You may want to preface your letter with the conviction you have about NOT having “sour grapes.” I think most corporations know some of what is going on, already and your letter may help to confirm reports they have already received. I think whistle blowing may actually increase the level of health care your receive, not decrease it. People usually pay attention when they know they are dealing with a “squeaky wheel.” When you tell the truth, usually others can tell; just don’t be dramatic.
